Viruses are the biggest cause of lost productivity for computer users.
Civil Engineering has several ways in which we attempt limit our exposure to virus threats.
Email scanning
The department currently runs the MailScanner program along with the Spamassassin program on the e-mail server. MailScanner scans each incoming and outgoing e-mail the department's server handles. Currently the configuration is to automatically block and delete any e-mail attachment with the following extention:
- exe
- pif
- bat
- com
